INTERNAL SQUASH LEAGUE RULES

The winner of each division in every cycle will receive 1 complimentary squash court.

1) The league is open to all players of all standards+. (Non Izz-card holders will pay extra – as per current prices)

2) All games must be played within the dates specified in the current cycle.

3) Court fees must be shared equally between both players – includes non-appearance. (Player is exempt only if 48 hour period is given - i.e actually spoken to opponent).

4) The complimentary squash court must be used before the start of the next cycle.

5) The squash league is played to Squash Rackets Association ‘Rules of the singles game’.

6) League cycles run for a period of 5 weeks. There is usually a weeks break in between cycles. Over the Christmas period, the league will be lengthened to accommodate holidays.

(NB. During August – because of low activity – the league will be suspended until early September.)

7) CONTACT / WALKOVER PROCEDURES

• Player A contact players B & C
• Player B contact players C & D
• Player C contact players D & E
• Player D contact players A, E & F
• Player E contact players A, B & F
• Player F contact players A, B & C

The contacting players must offer his/her opponent a choice of 3 dates. If none is acceptable by the opponent and an alternative cannot be arranged, then the opponent forfeits the match.

8) A player can only claim a walkover for the following reasons:

a) The reasons outlined above concerning arranging dates.
b) A date is agreed upon and a player does not turn up without informing his/her opponent.
c) A player withdraws from the match without giving his opponent 48 hours notice (re: cancellation fees) and giving an acceptable alternative date.

9) All matches are the best of 5 games, played with the current standard competition ball. The score at the end of court time stands, unless BOTH players agree to a re-match.
( NB  unfinished matches follow on from the point at which the match was interrupted - unless BOTH players agree to start at  0-0  i.e  from the beginning  )

10) Only completed games count toward points scored.

11) All players must fill in a league result form(lrf), sign it and post the form in the box by the league tables.  However, if players are connected to the net, then the online method of submitting results (winners responsibility) will be accepted. The address of the website will be linked by email. Late results (i.e those sent later than 12 noon Wednesday - day immediately following the closing day) will not be accepted.

12) Points will be awarded as follows:

14) Generally*, the following promotion/relegation outline applies:

Winner/Runner-up move up 1 division
Bottom 2
move down 1 division

15) In the event of points being tied between two -or more - players at the end of the cycle, positions will be determined based on the following criteria:

a) Winner of the game between players tied.
b) Whoever played more games (i.e 3/2 result = 5 games, 3-0 = 3 games)
c) Player with more victories.
d) If STILL equal – then, a play-off OR the Organiser's discretion decides.

16) Players not completing their full quota of matches may be excluded from future cycles.  At the Organiser's discretion, returning defaulters may be allowed back into the league, but such players - under normal circumstances - may have to join at the bottom rung along with new entrants.  Complimentary courts? - again, discretionary ;-)

Happy squashin’
